Getting started

What is Bankstand?

Bankstand is a companion dashboard for Old School RuneScape. Track your own account or anyone else's, see what changed since your last visit as a readable activity feed, compare characters side by side, and browse quest, diary and achievement progress. Data comes from Wise Old Man, the community's hiscores tracker, and, if you choose to pair it, the RuneLite plugin for a few things the public hiscores cannot see.

Do I need an account?

No. Search any player name and their public progress is visible without signing in. An account lets you save characters, set goals, pair the RuneLite plugin, and control privacy and sharing.

Is Bankstand affiliated with Jagex or RuneLite?

No. Bankstand is an independent, unofficial companion tool and is not affiliated with Jagex. The RuneLite plugin is a third-party add-on we built, not something RuneLite or Jagex operate themselves.

Account and RuneLite pairing

How do I link the RuneLite plugin to my account?

Install Bankstand from RuneLite's Plugin Hub, then on the Bankstand site go to Account, Connections, and click New pairing code. Copy the code (it works once and expires after 10 minutes) and paste it into the plugin's pairing field in RuneLite. The plugin then starts sending data for whichever character you're logged into.

What does "verified" mean next to a paired client?

Two things have to line up: you've already added that exact character name on the Characters tab, and the plugin, while you're logged in as that character, has sent at least one capture matching it. Until both are true, the client shows as unbound, or with no badge yet if it hasn't sent anything. Verified means "currently matched and syncing", not legal proof of ownership. A RuneLite client reports whichever character it's logged into, and Bankstand checks that report against your claimed characters, but it has no way to independently confirm who's really at the keyboard.

Can I pair more than one device?

Yes. Each RuneLite install pairs separately, so a second PC or a second character gets its own card on the Connections tab. Pairing more clients never widens what any single one of them can capture.

Can someone else take over my character's pairing?

Only one account holds verified status for a character at a time. If your paired client goes completely quiet for a long stretch, a different account that has also claimed that same character name can take over the next time its own plugin syncs. This exists so a character that changes hands (sold, traded, handed to a friend) doesn't stay stuck with whoever paired it first. Keep a client paired and syncing while you're actively playing to hold onto verified status.

How do I revoke a device?

Go to Account, Connections, and click Revoke on the device's card. A revoked device can't submit data again. The same page lets you remove a specific character's already-captured plugin data.

Privacy and your data

4

What's public and what's private?

Anything on the OSRS hiscores (skills, boss kills, clue counts) is public on Bankstand too, the same as it is on the game's own hiscores. Data the RuneLite plugin sends is different: private to your account by default, never merged into your public player page, never used for rankings. Plugin Data has the full breakdown of what the plugin reads and refuses to read.

Can I make my plugin data visible to others?

Not yet. The controls for it exist, but widening visibility beyond your own account is currently switched off while the verification behind it is hardened further. Keeping your own data private is unaffected.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. The Account tab has a full data export and account deletion, and the Connections tab lets you remove a specific character's captured plugin data without touching the rest of your account.

Where can I read the full details?

The Privacy Policy covers what's collected, why, how long it's kept, and your rights. Plugin Data is a plain-language summary of exactly what the RuneLite plugin can and cannot read.

Troubleshooting

My RuneLite data isn't showing up

  • Make sure RuneLite is running and you're logged into the character you expect. A client with nothing sent yet shows "Paired, but this client hasn't sent a capture yet" on the Connections tab.
  • Check the character name matches exactly on the Characters tab. A client that's connected but reporting a character you haven't claimed shows as unbound, not verified.
  • Some captures only fire on something happening in-game: opening your collection log triggers a sync, and diary and combat achievement tasks are picked up from their chat completion message rather than continuously.

Why does my profile look out of date?

Public player data (skills, bosses, clues) refreshes on a daily cycle, so it can be up to 24 hours behind the real hiscores. Visiting your own signed-in profile also triggers a quick refresh of your own stale characters, but someone else's page only updates on the regular cycle.

My pairing code didn't work

A code works once and expires after 10 minutes. If it expired or was already used, go back to Account, Connections, and generate a new one.

A device shows "expiring soon"

A paired client's token needs renewing occasionally. Re-pair it the same way you did the first time, with a fresh code, and it picks up where it left off.
